Yachts, parties and more
For a luxurious event, local company has the answers

Last week it was a black tie affair, complete with sit down dinner and live music to celebrate an anniversary. Last
month it was an intimate wedding at sea for 25 guests. And in August it was the epitome of luxury living for a 50th
birthday party- as guests were ushered aboard a 91-foot yacht, where they cruised the Intracoastal to a mansion
in Ft. Lauderdale where they were served a seven-course meal before being ushered into a private ballroom
that had been transformed into a sultry jazz club.

“The whole idea was to keep a surprise coming,” said Dave MacDougall, mastermind behind the upscale events
at sea.
And with access to a fleet of 320 ships, MacDougall has a penchant for making sure special occasions are
anything but ordinary.
The entrepreneur says he’s not afraid to push the limits for parties - turning a typical Super Bowl bash or
corporate party into an unforgettable time at sea.

Working with caterers, musicians and even toys for the big boys, like jet skis and sightseeing jets, MacDougall
says it’s never a boring day at the office.  “It’s creative party planning, nothing is run of the mill,” said
MacDougall, whose boats travel from Palm Beach to the Bahamas, stopping at popular resorts like The Breakers
and The Boca Raton Resort and Club.  “Our clients are people who want to do something different and unique.”

His fleet hosts everything from a 45-foot Sea Ray to a 192-foot luxury yacht, with catamarans, sailboats and
power boats at his disposal. Acting as a broker, MacDougall charters boats with local owners looking to rent out
their luxurious water toys.  “Our parties are custom tailored from the decorations to the menus,” said Matt
Talchick, owner of 91-foot yacht, the Summer Wind, a popular boat in MacDougall’s fleet.  “One time we did a
James Bond theme where we hijacked the yacht and took the guests to a private mansion where we had casino
night set up and the guests really enjoyed that.”

Based in Miami Beach, MacDougall says his fleet has become a staple for companies looking to treat their
employees in style.
Steffan Volcke, president of Boca Raton based company, Goodmark USA Inc., says he’s used the company on
more than one occasion for both corporate and private events.  From a three-day sport-fishing trip to the Florida
Keys to a dockside BBQ, Volcke says the boats are the best way to let out-of state clients get a true taste of
Florida’s ocean views.

“The staff is very accommodating and they take care of everything so you can just focus on your guests,” said
Volcke, who used the Summer Wind to celebrate his wife’s 28th birthday. “And the outdoor element is great
because you can stroll around the boat.”
For Palm Beach residents looking to put a little more pizazz in their family vacation, MacDougall says a family of
four can rent a catamaran with two bedrooms and sail to the Bahamas for $800 a day.

“It’s an adventure vacation. No day is ever the same on a boat. You can go sport fishing, kayaking, snorkeling.
We’ve even had ultra light sightseeing planes land beside the boat and take people up for a sightseeing trip.”

And the company definitely caters to the rich and famous, says MacDougall.  Although he couldn't’ name names,
he says musicians, athletes and movie stars drop an easy $315,000 a week to rent their $15 million yacht,
complete with captain, crew and of course, private chef.

"Its luxury living at its finest", says MacDougall.
